Michael Waltrip Returns to Nashville Superspeedway in the No. 99 Best Western Toyota Camry

Cornelius, NC (April 10, 2009) Michael Waltrip will make his first Nashville Superspeedway start since the 2006 NASCAR Nationwide Series season on Saturday, April 11th when he pilots the No. 99 Best Western Toyota Camry. In three career starts in Nashville, Waltrip has captured a win, a 38th place finish and most recently, a 10th place finish during the 06 campaign. Waltrip added, “I’m looking forward to representing Best Western and their over 4000 independently owned and operated Hotels.”

No stranger to Nationwide Series success, Waltrip recounts his Nashville victory in 2004 as one of his fondest memories. “We were a small team, led by passionate employees that built cars out behind my house in Sherrills Ford, N.C., it was so cool to avoid trouble late in the race and drive on to victory. I recall seeing the leaders spinning in front of me, I dove into a cloud of smoke figuring a few of us would come out on the other end, and when the smoke cleared, it was just me. Along with my two Harley J. Earl trophies (Daytona 500 Victories in 2001 and 2003), the Gibson Les Paul Nashville Victory Trophy is one of my all-time favorites."

Waltrip will be one of four NASCAR Sprint Cup regulars competing in Saturday’s main event. The others include Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch and NASCAR Sprint Cup Rookie, Joey Logano.

Broadcast coverage of the NASCAR Nationwide Series Nashville 300 starts at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN. It also can be heard on MRN and Sirius XM Satellite radio networks.
