Reutimann Previews Richmond

“This track is where I had my first Nationwide start back in 2002,” said Reutimann. “Joe Nemechek gave me the opportunity to race his car and that led to television exposure that caught the eye of Darrell Waltrip, which really was the turning point of my NASCAR career.”

GETTING BACK TO SHORT TRACK RACING:
“I like short track racing and Richmond is a great racetrack. Since they repaved it a couple of years ago, it’s smooth and fast and has a couple of different groves so you can pass down low or up top. Having options like that makes for good racing.”

EXPECTING BETTER FINISHES THIS TIME AROUND:
“I led a bunch of laps there last year and (Crew Chief) Rodney (Childers) and the guys have given me fast cars all year, so I am going to set my expectations pretty high. We’ve have been running well all year but had a couple of unfortunate incidents on pit road the last few races that have cost us there at the end, so if we can avoid the mistakes, we should have a solid finish.”

CHALLENGES AT “THE ACTION TRACK”:
“Getting the car to roll through the center of the turns and being able to get back on the throttle quickly is key to running up front there.” said Reutimann. “You also have to take care of your brakes there because you are hard on the brakes going into the corners. If we can get all of that working, then we should have a good race.”

ELEVENTH PLACE CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS POSITION BRINGS EXCITEMENT TO AARON’S DREAM TEAM:
“The whole organization at Michael Waltrip Racing has made some huge advancements over the last year.” said Reutimann. “The cars and setups are better, the engineering is better and the teams at the shop and at the track are solid. When you can unload off the truck and have a fast car right off the bat, it makes things better. We just need to close these deals and get the better finishes.”

The No. 00 Aaron’s Dream Machine for the Richmond International Raceway race is chassis #628. This car raced at Martinsville and finished 20th and Phoenix where it posted an 8th place finish.
